MINNEAPOLIS – The UNLV men's and women's swimming teams gathered three top-5 finishes in Wednesday's opening night of the Minnesota Invitational at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Grabbing a third-place finish in the 800 free relay, the 'A' team of sophomore Ava Olson, freshman Grace Wharton, junior Erika Carlson and senior Bridget Sullivan reached the wall in 7:13.05 for the second-fastest time in program history. Additionally, the group came within 2.87 seconds of the school record and dropped their time by 6.45 seconds on the season.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Representing the Rebels in the 200 medley relay, the 'A' squad of sophomore Wikus Potgieter, senior Adnan Beji, redshirt freshman Emil Perez and senior Daniel Nicusan combined for a third-place finish with a season-best time of 1:25.61.
- The Scarlet & Gray men's 800 free relay 'A' squad of senior Kiel Cooper, redshirt sophomore Colby Raffel, sophomore Ambrus Barcsak and Perez rounded out the day's events with a fourth-place finish (6:28.48).
UP NEXT: The Rebels will continue competition at the invite on Thursday. Prelims will start at 8 a.m. PT, followed by the finals at 4 p.m. PT.
