Williams Named Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel Of The Week

The senior quarterback had two total touchdowns as UNLV retained the Fremont Cannon

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football senior quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Williams, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, led the Rebels to a dominant 38-14 victory over UNR to retain the fabled Fremont Cannon. The veteran signal-caller completed 14-of-21 pass attempts for 168 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 104 yards and another score.

Williams has thrown at least one score and ran for at least one score in the same game for the seventh time in his nine starts as a Rebel. He also became just the second Rebel quarterback to post four 100-yard rushing games in a career in just one season.

With the win, the Rebels earned a spot in the 2024 Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship Game vs. Boise State on Friday at 5 p.m. PT in a rematch of the 2023 MW championship  staged in Las Vegas.
