Rebel Soccer Programs Celebrate Par 3, UNLV Soccer Foundation Gifted Pitch Renovation

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — As UNLV's men's soccer program proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary and women's soccer its 27th year, the university not only looked back, but also pushed forward with significant improvements that set the stage for the next chapter of Rebel soccer. In partnership with the UNLV Rebel Soccer Foundation and with the generous support of Par 3 Landscaping, Peter Johann Memorial Field – the home of the Rebel men's and women's soccer teams – has undergone a major transformation.

The renovation, completed just in time for the women's soccer home opener this past season on August 15, marked the first replacement of the field's turf since it was originally installed in 1983 and sourced from the historic Dunes Golf Course. In addition to 92,000 square feet of new sod, Par 3 Landscaping performed crucial upgrades, including replacing irrigation heads, installing 2,700 square feet of artificial turf around bench areas, and rebuilding a failing irrigation pump – all while navigating the highest summer temperatures in Las Vegas history. Par 3's dedication to the project included nearly $100,000 in donated labor and materials.

"We finally received the go-ahead in late spring after working closely with Athletic Director Erick Harper and his team at UNLV Athletics," said Dan Giraldo, president of the UNLV Rebel Soccer Foundation. "Par 3 quickly mobilized in early June, and by early July, we were laying the new sod. We couldn't be more grateful for their commitment to supporting our soccer programs."

As UNLV Athletics and the UNLV Rebels Soccer Foundation focus on building a better future, this upgrade perfectly aligned with the new lights UNLV installed earlier this year.

"The enhanced facilities will not only benefit current players but also serve as a key recruiting tool. These improvements allow us to continue attracting top-tier talent," said UNLV women's soccer head coach Jenny Williams. "We couldn't do this without the support of the Rebel Soccer Foundation and companies like Par 3."

UNLV men's soccer head coach BJ Craig expressed pride in leading the men's program during this historic 50th year of the program. With a legacy built on resilience, community and a relentless drive for success, UNLV soccer remains committed to shaping the future by honoring the lessons of its rich past.

"Our program's history is the cornerstone of our success. The passion and commitment of those who came before us inspire today's team. This season, we're celebrating the past while using it as a blueprint for the future."

Fans are encouraged to support the teams, and help us continue to build a stronger foundation for the next 50 years and beyond. For more information on how to support the UNLV Rebel Soccer Foundation with a donation, please visit www.UNLVSoccerFoundation.com.
