RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Sophomore Alex Vazquez set the program record in the men's 3-meter springboard twice on Friday's opening day of the Riverside Diving Invitational at Riverside Aquatics Center.
On the day, the Rebels collected two event victories among five top-5 finishes.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Vazquez earned a first-place finish on the 3-meter springboard, breaking his own school record in the process. Originally, he broke the record in prelims with a score of 408.45, but went on to shatter that in the finals with a 453.95.
- Senior Dima Tereshchenko earned a second-place finish in the 3-meter event, posting an overall score of 351.15.
- Additionally, sophomore Ronan Robinson dove to an overall score of 281.15, which landed him in fourth place.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Senior Vika Yanovska won the 1-meter competition with a final score of 318.00.
- Joining Yanovska in the 1-meter event, freshman Allyse Abbott tallied an overall score of 278.05 to land in third place. The score gave Abbott the fifth-best score in school history.
- Also showing strong efforts on the 1-meter board were senior Jenna Walch (253.05) and sophomore Chelsey Dorosh (252.75) who placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
- Sophomore Chloe Bohuslavizki scored a 248.05 in a ninth-place finish to round out the Rebel 1-meter competitors.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will conclude the Riverside Diving Invitational on Saturday. The meet will start at 9 a.m. PT.
