LARAMIE, Wyo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team won its third straight game and eighth in its last nine outings with a 75-69 overtime win at Wyoming Tuesday night at Arena-Auditorium.
Kalib Boone led the Runnin' Rebels (17-10, 10-5) with a game-high 24 points and a season- and game-high 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
Dedan Thomas Jr. added 13 points, while
Justin Webster contributed 11.
UNLV, which won its 10th Mountain West game of the season and owns a 6-2 road record in conference action, has moved into a tie for third place in the league standings.
Wyoming (13-15, 6-9) was led by Brendan Wenzel's 20 points. Sam Griffin added 13, while Mason Walters scored 12. Cam Manyawu recorded 10 rebounds.
HOW IT ENDED: In the overtime period, Boone was fouled going for an offensive rebound and made both free throws.
Rob Whaley Jr. then leaped and turned in a SportsCenter Top-10 worthy dunk for an and-1 to give UNLV a 69-64 lead with two minutes to go. Boone was fouled again and increased the Runnin' Rebels' lead to 70-64 after two more free throws. Brendan Wenzel made a corner 3-pointer to cut Wyoming's deficit to three points, but
Luis Rodriguez took a pass from
Brooklyn Hicks before making what turned out to be the play of the game with an incredible behind-the-back pass to Boone, who threw down a game-sealing dunk.
STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV made 10 of 11 free throws in overtime (90.9%).
END OF REGULATION: UNLV held a 61-57 lead with less than 20 seconds to go in the second half, but UNLV had two turnovers and Wyoming closed on a 4-0 spurt to force the extra period.
OTHER NOTES:
- UNLV led by as many as 10 points with about 15 minutes to go in the game.
- There were a total of four lead changes and six ties throughout the contest.
- UNLV led 23-19 at halftime and outscored Wyoming 14-8 in the extra period.
- UNLV out-rebounded Wyoming 44-32, which marked the third straight game the Runnin' Rebels have recorded more rebounds than their opponent.

Kalib Boone was 8 of 10 from the field and made all eight of his free throw attempts.
- UNLV shot 51.9% from the field in the second half (14 of 27), finishing the game at 40.7% (24 of 59) and made 86.4% (19 of 22) of its free throws.
- Wyoming made just 25.0% (6 of 24) from the field in the first half, but rebounded by making 48.0% (12 of 25) in the second half. It finished at 36.8% (21 of 57) for the game.
- Wenzel made 4 of 5 3-pointers and also grabbed five rebounds.
- UNLV continues to be without
Jalen Hill, who is out of the rest of the season (ACL).
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,220 straight games.
