SAN DIEGO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - After multiple delays due to wind and rain, the UNLV softball team won one out of two games on Saturday afternoon in San Diego. In the morning, the Rebels (9-8) took complete control over CSU Bakersfield (2-12) and came out on top after five innings, 12-0. Followed up after the first match, it was nothing but stormy weather which postponed the Rebels next game. Once the game finally began, UNLV was held scoreless by CSUN (13-4) and fell 0-2.

GAME 1: UNLV 12, CSU Bakersfield 0 (5 innings)
It did not take long for the Rebels to take the lead against the Roadrunners. In the bottom of the first inning,
Ariana Martinez started things off with a single to right field and a
Maddie Schmidt followed with a bunt single.
Janyssa Martin walked to put Martinez into scoring position. A
Jesse Farrell single brought Martinez home, 1-0, and put another Rebel inches away from the plate.
Alyssa Trejo walked to bring home Schmidt. Farrell then reached scoring position after a fielder's choice that had
Sofia Morales reach first and brought Martin across the plate. Morales used her quick feet to steal second and after a wild pitch and then ran to third. Farrell scored to extend UNLV's lead 4-0.
Kelsie Kelso then stepped up to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly which sent Morales home to get their last run of the inning and made it 5-0.
Alanna Thiede and the Rebels' defense kept CSU Bakersfield scoreless at the top of the second. In the bottom of the inning, the Rebels added three more to extend their lead that began with a Martinez and Martin both drawing walks. UNLV ended the inning with three runs on three hits, to make it 8-0. After a quick inning that shut down the Roadrunners, UNLV was back up to bat in the bottom of the third and managed to add four more runs. Martinez blasted a double into left center, followed by a Schmidt bunt single to advance Martinez to third. The Rebels continued the grind to eventually make the lead 12-0. Rebels were led by Schmidt, Martinez, and Kelso that had multiple hits in the game. UNLV held the Roadrunners scoreless for the fourth and fifth innings to come on top.

GAME 2: UNLV 0, CSUN 2
After playing one full inning between the Rebels and Matadors, the game was postponed for an hour due to rain. Once the game got started, CSUN took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Both teams were scoreless for the rest of the game and the Rebels were unable to get things going.

OTHER NOTES:
- Maddie Schmidt was 2-for-3 against the Roadrunners
- Kelsie Kelso was 2-for-2 against the Roadrunners and had three RBI.
- Alanna Thiede picked up her sixth win of the season and now has a 6-1 record in the circle.
- The Rebels collectively had 11 RBI against CSU Bakersfield.
- UNLV only allowed two runs for the day.
