Rebel Duo Wraps Up NCAA Championships

Ruby Howell finished 41st in the 200 breast and Blanka Bokros took 46th in the 200 fly in their final events of the weekend

ATHENS, Ga. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's swimming seniors Ruby Howell and Blanka Bokros wrapped up their double-event trips to the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at Georgia's Jack Bauerle Pool in Gabrielsen Natatorium.

In the 200 breast, Howell saved her best swim for last as she finished second in prelims heat No. 2 and 41st overall with the second-fastest time in program history at 2:11.57. Her time was within one-tenth of a second of the school record as she became the fourth Rebel women's swimmer to dip below 2:12.00 in the event.

Making a trip to the meet in the 200 fly for the second consecutive season, Bokros clocked a 1:58.50 in prelims heat No. 3 to finish 46th overall.

The Rebel duo ends a record-setting season in which they each set Mountain West, MW Championship meet and school records. Howell's mark came in the 200 IM and Bokros tallied hers in the 200 fly.

QUOTABLE: "It was great to see Ruby rattle the team record this morning. It's not easy to come here and swim a best time, so that was a great way to wrap up her career."
