BOISE, Idaho (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team got off to a strong start but saw No. 57 Boise State come back to claim a 5-2 win on Friday evening at the Appleton Tennis Center.
The Rebels fell to 8-8 overall and 1-1 in Mountain West play while the Broncos improved to 14-10 and 2-1 in the league.
The visitors took a 1-0 lead by winning two of three doubles matches.
Taiyo Hirano and
Illia Maksymchuk won 6-4 at No. 2 while
Dusan Rsovac and
Thomas Navarro clinched it with a 7-5 finish on court three.
In singles, Boise State won the first set on five of six courts and took all four straight-setters. The Rebels' second team point came when Maksymchuk outlasted James Van Herzeele at the second position, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5).
UP NEXT: UNLV remains on the road and heads to Logan with a date with Utah State on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. PT.
