THE COMEBACK TO WALK IT OFF: As the Rebels and Wolf Pack headed into the seventh inning, UNR held a one run lead, 7-6. In the top of the seventh, Thiede and the Rebels' defense sat down the Wolf Pack with three straight ground balls. The Rebels then came to the plate in the bottom half of the seventh eager to tie the game up. With one out,
Marisa Bowman roped a double to right field to give UNLV a base runner.
Maddie Schmidt then had a quality at-bat earning a full count walk, and as the ball got away from the Wolf Pack catcher, Bowman went to third. With runners on the corners,
Skyler Shaw hit a fly ball to left and Bowman tagged up and beat the throw to tie the game 7-7 and force extra innings. In the top of the eighth, the Rebels again sat down the Wolf Pack in order to head back to the plate.
Ariana Martinez led things off with a four pitch walk and
Alexys Herrera took over on the base path for Martinez.
Alyssa Trejo then put down a beauty of a bunt towards third base, which moved Herrera to second. With a 0-2 count,
Sofia Morales then chopped a ball to third and beat out the throw low in the dirt. As Herrera rounded third, the Wolf Pack tried to pick her off and throw across the diamond, but Herrera took off and slid under the tag at home plate to score.
