LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team honored its trio of departing seniors before falling 5-2 to San Diego State Thursday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels fell to 8-10 and 1-3 in the Mountain West while the Aztecs improved to 14-5 and 3-2.
The visitors won the doubles point by taking the first two completed matches.
In singles, the hosts rallied and at one point had a path to four points before SDSU closed things out.
UNLV got its two points at the top of the lineup, including one of the three seniors,
Anton Ornberg, who downed Johannes Seeman, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1.
Illia Maksymchuk was the other victorious Rebel, defeating Bora Sengul, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, at No. 2.
The other two seniors playing their final match at Fertitta were
Aaron Bailey and
Jackson Atherton.

UP NEXT: UNLV will close out the regular season with a trip north to take on UNR Saturday at 12 p.m. The match is part of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.
