LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's golf junior Toa Yokoyama tees off this week on a sponsor exemption in the EPSON Tour's Copper Rock Championship, which is being held from May 16-18 at Copper Rock Golf Course in St. George, Utah (Par 72, 6,552 yards).

A native of Tokyo, Japan, Yokoyama starts play as an amateur in Thursday's first round at 12:59 p.m. PT and Friday's second round at 8:09 a.m. PT. She joins former Rebel golfers Dana Fall (formerly Finkelstein) and Nicole Lorup at the three-day event.

Yokoyama is coming off a tied-for-11th finish at the NCAA Las Vegas Regional for the best finish by all players competing only as individuals. During the tournament, she tied a program record for lowest round in an NCAA Regional with a 5-under 67 in the second round.

The 2024 All-Mountain West First Team selection led the Rebels with a career-best 72.26 scoring average this season as she rose to a No. 40 national ranking as an individual. This spring, she posted two top-5 and five top-10 finishes, including a third-place showing at the San Diego State Classic, a career-low tournament score of 9-under 207 (Houston's Chevron Collegiate) and a career-high conference finish when she tied for seventh at the MW Championship with a 1-under 215.

FORMAT: Copper Rock Golf Course plays host to 132 players, including defending champion Savannah Vilaubi. Eighteen of the 48 Epson Tour rookies, four sponsor invites and amateurs Lila Galea'i, Grace Williams, Anais Guiba alongside Yokoyama are set to compete. The tournament features 54 holes of stroke play, including a cut after the second round.
