LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team might have fallen 13-4 in five innings to San Diego State in the series finale on Saturday at Eller Media Stadium, but the Rebels already clinched the series as they defeated the Aztecs on Saturday. UNLV honored its seniors

The Rebels (31-17, 14-8 MW) and Aztecs (28-18, 15-7 MW) went back-and-forth through the first three innings, until San Diego State took the lead in the top of the fourth inning and stayed in control.
THE TURNING POINT: The Aztecs took a 13-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning scoring 10 runs on seven hits. The Rebels were unable to get a rally going and were held off the scoreboard in the next two innings of play.
OTHER NOTES:
- The Rebels will make their first MW Softball Championship appearance since 2006. UNLV hosted the 2006 MW Softball Championships, which was the last one before the tournament returned in 2023.
- Ariana Martinez was 2-for-2 on the day against San Diego State going yard in her first at-bat of the day which was a two-run shot. Martinez also had a walk.
- Skyler Shaw, Janyssa Martin and Jesse Farrell each had a hit on the day.
- Farrell roped her 11th homer of the season in the first inning.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will head to the MW Championships as the no. 2 seed which is hosted by Boise State from May 9-11. UNLV will play its first game of the tournament on Thursday, May 9 at 3 p.m. PT against the winner of no. 3 UNR or no. 6 Colorado State.
