BOISE, Idaho (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team fell 8-0 in five innings to in-state rival UNR on Thursday at Huber Field at Dona Larsen Park on the opening day of the Mountain West Softball Championship. This game is part of the Silver State Series, presented by America First Credit Union.

The Rebels (31-18) fell behind 1-0 to the Wolf Pack (40-15) in the top of the first inning. The Scarlet & Gray tried to get something going in the bottom of the first with a runner on with two outs, but unfortunately was kept off the scoreboard. UNLV's offense was held to only two hits, a third-inning single from
Skyler Shaw and a fourth-inning single by
Alyssa Trejo. This was only the fourth time this season UNLV was held scoreless.

TURNING POINT: After UNR took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, both squads were held off the board in the second. The Wolf Pack then tacked on two runs in the top of the third, three runs in the top of the fourth and two runs in the top of the fifth to close out the game early.
