Rebel Receiver Up For Walter Camp National Player Of The Year

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV senior wide receiver Ricky White III is one of just 50 players included on the Walter Camp Football Foundation watch list for its 2024 Player of the Year Award, the nation's fourth-oldest individual college football accolade, and presented by David McDermott Lexus of New Haven.

White III, who was named 2024 Preseason Second Team All-America by Walter Camp, Phil Steele and Athlon Sports, is college football's leading returning receiver after finishing with a school-record 1,483 yards last fall. He also tied the UNLV mark for receptions in a season with 88 and became the first Rebel ever to post five consecutive games with at least 100 receiving yards. He was earlier named to the 2024 watch list of the Maxwell Award, which also goes to the nation's top collegiate player.

The Walter Camp is the nation's oldest and most prestigious All-America team. The 2024 Player of Year watch list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in early November and three finalists will be announced on November 26. The 2024 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 133 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced on ESPN's College Football Awards Show on December 12.

Under the direction of 2023 Mountain West Coach of the Year Barry Odom, White III and the Rebels will kick off their 57th season of football on August 31 by heading to Big 12 Conference member Houston at 4 p.m. PT on FS1 in the first of a school-record 11 national TV games. The home opener comes one week later when Utah Tech comes to Allegiant Stadium for a noon kickoff on September 7.
