Volleyball Caps Nonconference Schedule Against LMU

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team rounded out the first half of the 2024 season on Saturday night, taking on LMU for the final match of the Trojan / Lion Invitational.
 
The Rebels (7-4) fell to the Lions (8-3) in the match on a 3-0 final score, the official line being 25-19, 27-25 and 28-26. The Scarlet & Gray pushed the sets to extras in two of the three sets, but LMU's .232 hitting percentage took advantage against UNLV's .153 rate.
 
Chloe Thomas and Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos tied for the top spot on the Rebels' roster in kills, each producing nine in the match. Basia Latos tied her career-high with seven on the night, matching her total set on Friday against UCSD. Alondra Alarcon notched the top hitting percentage of the lineup, hitting .308 with six kills to her line on 13 attempts. 
 
Olivia Mikkelsen produced a double-double for the second time in three games, picking up a team-leading 15 set assists and 10 digs in the match. Caleigh King totaled her fifth-consecutive match of double-digit digs, tying Mikkelsen for the lead with 10. Latos gathered her largest dig total in her freshman campaign, setting nine of the team's 42 digs.
 
The serve was led by Arretche-Ramos, notching a pair of service aces in the match with Latos picking up the third and final ace from the lineup. Jordyn Freeman headed the Rebels' frontline with the highest block mark in the match, picking up three.
   
UP NEXT
The Scarlet & Gray will return home and kick off the Mountain West schedule, starting conference matches on Thursday, Sept. 26. UNLV will hit the road in their first weekend of conference play, visiting New Mexico before traveling to Air Force. That match against the Lobos is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m. PT.
