LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Voted on by a committee, ESPN's Top 100 Players of the 2024-25 college football season included two prominent Rebels – wide receiver Ricky White III and linebacker Jackson Woodard, both of whom are also scheduled to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl a week from today in Arlington, Texas.
White, a two-time All-American and 2024's Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year, was ranked 59 overall while All-American and MW Defensive Player of the Year Woodard came in at No. 75. Two former Rebels who had found success in Las Vegas were also on the list – No. 43 Nohl Williams, a cornerback now of Cal, and No. 77 Kyle Williams, a receiver now of Washington State.
White, who led the nation with four blocked punts, became the first Rebel in history to post more than one 1,000-yard receiving season, finishing with 1,041 on 79 catches and ranking seventh in the nation with 11 touchdowns through the air. After just three seasons at UNLV, the former Michigan State transfer finished second in school history in career receptions (218) and 100-yard games (13) and third in receiving yards (3,143) and receiving TDs (23).
Woodard was named First Team All-America by College Football Network and Second Team by both the FWAA and The Athletic. He ranked fourth in the nation with 135 total tackles, which is the third-most in UNLV single-season history. His four interceptions ranked 19th in the country while the Art of Sport LA Bowl Defensive MVP totaled 16 passes defended, 17.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles in his final season.
