LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV men's soccer topped Air Force, 2-0, Saturday night at Peter Johann Memorial Field to remain unbeaten in WAC play.
Junior
Tyler Ware scored the eventual game-winning goal in the fifth minute and junior
Kai Merrill tacked on a 42nd-minute goal as the Rebels (4-4-5, 1-0-3 WAC) are now undefeated through four league matches for the first time since 2014. The Scarlet & Gray backline and junior goalkeeper
Hugo Lemos also collected their second conference shutout - and fifth clean sheet overall this year - against the Falcons (1-10-2, 0-4-0 WAC).
Finishing the game with assists, freshman
Joaquin Eisenberg set up Ware's team-high-tying second goal of the season and Merril's first score of 2025 came off a relay from freshman
Scott Chavira-Robles and sophomore
Thomas Lebeuf.
STAT OF THE GAME: Lemos and UNLV's defensive unit only allowed two shots on goal by Air Force. Each of those were cleaned up by Lemos for his two saves in 90 minutes of duty.
QUOTABLE: "This was a classic league game and credit to a well-coached Air Force team as they fought to the end. I am proud of the team for finding a way to win tonight and we scored goals at the right times. We started very well and have to learn to keep pushing the game after the early goal. We also defended very well and another clean sheet is credit to the determination of this group. There was a great crowd tonight. We appreciated everyone who came out to support us and we need another strong showing next week to help us on towards the championship."
- UNLV Head Coach BJ Craig
UP NEXT: The Rebels will continue in pursuit of a regular-season title and conference tournament spot in their Senior Night tilt vs. Utah Valley at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
NOTES:
- Ware's goal gave him a team-best-tying five points on the season. He and junior Bryce Allred each have tallied two goals and one assist during the 2025 campaign.
- Chavira-Robles became the seventh Rebel to record an assist this season
- Along with their non-conference finale victory over UC Irvine, the Rebels have extended their overall unbeaten streak to five matches.
