LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV senior defensive back
Aamaris Brown (ah-MAR-is) has been named to The Associated Press Midseason All-America Team.
Brown (Tampa, FL), who previously played at Kansas State and South Florida, was a member of the AP's second team after being a first team pick by The Sporting News. He also was ranked number 123 in the nation on the CBS Sports Top 150 Payers at Midseason list.
Brown set a UNLV record by grabbing an interception in four consecutive games (first four of the season). He is currently tied for third in the nation in picks and is one of five players to have returned two interceptions for a touchdown this fall. He returned one 52 yards in a win at Sam Houston and one 67 yards at Miami (OH), which helped him earn Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week honors on September 1. Brown was also named the Jim Thorpe Award National DB of the Week on September 9 after securing the team's win over UCLA with a game-ending pick.
Brown, who missed one game because of injury, stands fifth on the squad with 31 total tackles, second with three tackles-for-loss and first with two quarterback sacks to go with five pass breakups. His total of nine passes defended stands second in the Mountain West.
Brown and UNLV have the week off before returning to Allegiant Stadium to host New Mexico on Nov. 1 at noon. Fans can still take advantage of the Showtime Deal which, for only $66, allows them to attend the remaining three home games, with seating located on the north 200-level, including access to the Coors Light Landing.
The Showtime Deal can be purchased online at
