TEMPE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Lady Rebels came up short and fell 56-53 in a heartbreak game to Arizona State on Saturday afternoon at Desert Financial Arena. The Scarlet & Gray (2-3) still hold the overall series 8-3.

Three different Lady Rebels scored in double-figures and were led by
Mariah Elohim and
Jasmyn Lott who each had 12 points. Elohim shot 4-for-6 from the field and from long range.
Meadow Roland collected her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Roland additionally blocked five shots, which tied her career-high.
Shelbee Brown had eight points and nine rebounds, while she led the Lady Rebels in assists with four and three steals.

The Sun Devils (5-0) were led by
McKinna Brackens' double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Helosia Carrera was the second-leading scorer for ASU with 16 points.

FOURTH QUARTER CRAZE: The Lady Rebels trailed only by three heading into the final 10 minutes of play. UNLV cut the deficit to one, 41-40, after Roland sank a layup. ASU then went up by two, but
Mariah Elohim drained a three on a fast break about a foot and a half of the arch to give UNLV a 43-42 lead. UNLV and ASU exchanged baskets before Roland hit a huge three-pointer to tie the game 50-all. The Sun Devils scored a three of their own to go back up by 53-50. However, the Lady Rebels answered back on a Lott three that tied the game at 53-all with 1:51 left to play. ASU then called a timeout with 14 seconds left in the game and after the break, the Sun Devils nearly lost the ball, but threw up a hail mary basket with four seconds left and the ball sank before a shot clock violation to go ahead 56-53.

OTHER NOTES:
- The Lady Rebels and Sun Devils exchanged the lead six times and were tied six times throughout the game.
- UNLV's bench out-scored ASU's bench 19-1.
- The Lady Rebels had seven steals against the Sun Devils.
- ASU out-rebounded UNLV 35-30.
