LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Anthony Colandrea is the first UNLV quarterback since legendary College Football Hall of Famer
Randall Cunningham to win four conference weekly honors in a career as the league announced he earned another Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday.
The junior transfer from Virginia was also named in back-to-back weeks on Sept. 1 and 8 and then again on Oct. 13. For his part, Cunningham won two awards each in 1983 and '84 while dominating for the Rebels in the old PCAA (Big West).
On Friday, Colandrea (St. Petersburg, FL) completed 81-percent of his passes (21-of-26) for 253 yards and three touchdowns (to three different players) to lead his team to a 38-10 victory over Hawai'i. He is currently one of just four players in the FBS to have at least 2,750 passing yards and at least 500 net rushing yards.
UNLV (9-2), which just finished its home schedule with a 5-1 mark, will travel to Reno on Saturday for the regular-season finale looking to earn a possible spot in the Mountain West Championship game for the third straight year. The annual Battle for the Fremont Cannon vs. UNR will kick off at 6 p.m. PT on CBS Sports Network.
