LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned two event wins and 30 top-10 finishes on the opening day of the annual UNLV Finis Invitational Monday at Jim Reitz Pool.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- In the 400 medley relay 'A' team of junior Dominika Trentkiewicz, Carlson, sophomore Lauren Palacios and junior Ava Olson won the event with a time of 3:40.00.
- The 200 free relay 'A' squad of senior Erika Carlson, junior Ava Olson, seniors Gina Miller and Averi Webb combined for a second-place time of 1:32.58.
- Adding three top-5 finishes in the 500 free, Miller placed second (4:52.88), while senior Marta Klimek finished third (4:53.05) and sophomore Grace Wharton took fourth (4:53.51).
- In a 1-2 Rebel finish of the 200 IM, Carlson won the event with a time of 2:00.47, while Olson finished closely behind in second (2:01.81). Additionally, freshman Rachel Wigginton added a fourth-place finish in the event, swimming a 2:02.94.
- Stacking on more top-5 finishes in the 50 free, Webb (23.44) and Miller (23.46) touched in third and fourth, respectively.
- In the 3-meter dive, sophomore Allysee Abbott placed fourth (256.70), while junior Chelsey Dorosh finished seventh (240.40).
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- In a 200 free relay second-place finish, the 'A' team of redshirt sophomore Emil Perez, sophomore Yamato Lucero, junior Wikus Potgieter and sophomore Lucas Diermayr swam a time of 1:19.12.
- In two top-5 finishes in the 500 free, freshman Logan Calhoun earned a third-place finish in a time of 4:27.23, while freshman counterpart Luke Leon Guerro followed closely behind in fourth (4:28.78).
- Adding another top-5 finish, Diermayr tied for fifth in the 50 free with a time of 20.31.
- Reeling in two more top-3 finishes in the 400 medley relay, the Scarlet & Gray 'A' squad claimed second (3:11.26), while the 'B' team followed in third (3:15.14).
