MINNEAPOLIS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's and women's swimming teams collected four top-5 finishes on day two of the Minnesota Invitational Friday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Placing second in the 200 medley relay, the Rebels 'A' squad of junior Wikus Potgieter, sophomore Tyler Schneider, seniors Ian Belflower and Bryson Huey combined for a time of 1:25.58.
- Senior Colby Raffel posted an eighth-place time of 1:36.86 in the 200 free.
- In the 100 breast, Schneider produced a seventh-place finish with a time of 54.37.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- The Scarlet & Gray women's 200 medley relay 'A' team of sophomore Halayna Montrichard, seniors Erika Carlson and Cameron Mykkanen and junior Fernanda Mendez Guerra earned a fifth-place finish (1:40.90).
- In the 100 fly, Mendez Guerra posted a sixth-place finish with a time of 53.09.
- Sophomore Grace Wharton swam a 4:15.12 in the 400 IM to place fifth overall.
- Adding another Rebel top-5 finish, Carlson claimed fifth place in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.33.
- In the 100 back, Montrichard placed sixth with a time of 54.08.
QUOTABLE: "It's great to watch our athletes step up against teams from Power conferences. We continue to swim well, but we still have one more day to finish the meet strong."

UP NEXT: The Rebels will conclude competition at the invite on Saturday. Prelims will start at 8 a.m. PT, followed by the finals at 4 p.m. PT.
