PHOENIX (UNLVRebels.com) – The 73rd-ranked UNLV men's tennis team lost 4-1 Saturday in a neutral-site match against Pacific held at the Grand Canyon University Tennis Facility.
The Rebels dropped to 5-4 while the Tigers improved to 4-4 with their second win over a ranked opponent in as many days.
UNLV, which was again missing freshman standout Arda Karakas (6-1) because of injury, took a 1-0 lead by winning two of three doubles matches. Illia Maksymchuka and Roberto Hernandez won 6-4 at the top position while Dusan Rsovac and Thomas Navarro downed their opponents 6-4 on court two.
In singles, the teams split the first six sets but UOP was able to clinch with a trio of straight-setters and a rally on court four.
