PHOENIX (UNLVRebels.com) – The No. 73-ranked UNLV men's tennis team lost 4-2 at No. 62 Grand Canyon on Sunday afternoon at the GCU Tennis Facility.
The Rebels fell to 5-5 while the future MW-member Lopes improved to 7-3.
UNLV continued to look strong in doubles play, taking a 1-0 lead by taking two of three matches.
Illia Maksymchuka and
Roberto Hernandez won 7-6 (6) over Jonathan Da Silva and Brice Patoux at the top position to clinch the point after
Dusan Rsovac and
Thomas Navarro downed Diordan Macababbad and Nikiita Volonski, 6-4, on court two.
In singles, the Rebels earned their point when
Vitaliy Horovoy swept Finbar McGarvey, 6-3, 6-3, at the fourth position. The visitors forced three three-setters but lost two of them as GCU clinched things. Navarro was tied up in the third set when his match was halted.
UP NEXT: UNLV is now off until visiting Utah on March 19.
