LOS ANGELES (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's swimming team dropped their final regular season dual meet, 159-94, against No.16 USC on Friday afternoon at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
THE RUNDOWN MEN:
- In the 1000 free, freshman Caleb Manning gave the Rebels a second-place finish with a season-best time of 9:23.75.
- Senior Cooper Kiel earned a fifth-place time of 1:38.74 in the 200 free.
- Showing strong contributions in the 100 breast, seniors Adnan Beji (52.67) and Daniel Nicusan (52.81) placed third and fourth, respectively.
- Also tacking on top-5 finishes for the Scarlet & Gray, junior Ian Belflower and redshirt sophomore Colby Raffel recorded third-place (1:47.62) and fourth-place (1:48.17) finishes in the 200 fly, respectively.
- Sophomore Wikus Potgieter added multiple top-5 finishes on the day, he placed second in the 200 back (1:46.91) and fifth in the 50 free (20.61).
- Nicusan took fourth place in the 200 breast, reaching the wall in 1:55.61 seconds.
- In the 500 free, senior Andrew Navarro took second (4:30.89), while sophomore Ambrus Barcsak claimed third place (4:33.16).
- Taking the top-3 spots in the 100 fly, Belflower placed first (49.26), senior McKay Mickelson placed second (49.35) and Beji placed third (50.48) among swimmers that factored into the team scoring.
- In the 200 IM, Kiel placed first (1:47.97) among swimmers that factored into the team scoring.
- Closing the meet strong, the Rebels' 400 free relay 'A' team of freshman Kiril Stepanov, freshman Lucas Diermayr, redshirt freshman Emil Perez and senior Daniel Nicusan posted a first-place time of 2:59.79 among relay teams that factored into the team scoring.
UP NEXT: The Rebels now look ahead to their conference championships, with the women competing in the Mountain West Championships February 19-22 and men at the WAC Championships February 26-March 1.
