LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's team found itself in another long tennis tussle on Sunday afternoon before fighting off NAU 4-3 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels, who avenged a 6-1 loss last season at the hands of the Lumberjacks, improved to 5-2 on the year while NAU fell to 3-4.
 
UNLV opened by taking the doubles point for a 1-0 lead. Joel Gibson and Vitaliy Horovoy downed Semen Agynskyy and Jakub Volesky 6-3, at the third spot after Thomas Navarro and Dusan Rsovac won 6-2 over Mateusz Lange and Piotr Galus on court two.
 
In singles, Kemal Karakas gave the Rebels their second point with a quick 6-4, 6-3 win over Lange at the fourth position before NAU rallied to eventually take a 3-2 overall lead. Horovoy then got past , Agynskyy, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 5 to tie things up and put all eyes on court two. That's where Rsovac came back after losing the first set to finish off Galus, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Dusan Rsovac took his key doubles match and then won the team match in singles by breaking his opponent's serve in the clinching game in the third set to complete the rally.
 
QUOTABLE: "It's a good win, especially considering how NAU dominated us the last time we met. It was also a nice bounce back from a very tough loss on Friday. We fought equally hard in the two matches but played better tennis today."
