FEDERAL WAY, WA (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV sophomore Alex Vaquez qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter dive on monday's opening day of the NCAA Zone E Diving Championship at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Punching his ticket to the NCAA Championship, Vazquez earned an overall score of 690.75 in the 1-meter dive that landed him in fourth. Additionally, he's the first Rebel diver to advance to the Championships since former UNLV diver Tazman Abramowicz did so in 2019.
- Joining Vazquez in the 1-meter dive, senior Dima Tereschchenko placed 23rd with a score of 250.90 during prelims.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Representing the Rebel women in the 3-meter prelims, sophomore Chelsey Dorosh earned a career-best zone finish of 252.65 to place 29th.
- In her third Zone appearance, senior Vika Yanovska placed 32nd overall with a score of 245.90.
- In her first trip to the competition, freshman Allyse Abbott finished 38th with a score of 239.30.
