LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 4-0 win over Richmond on a cold and rainy Thursday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The match, which marked the first meeting of the two programs, was delayed by rain for nearly three hours but the Rebels ultimately improved to 9-3 while the Spiders fell to 4-4.
 
Doubles was hotly contested as Nikol Mircheva and Hanna Vinahradava won 6-4 over Andrea Campodonica and Lara Bakhaya at the top spot before Coco Zhao and Cindy Hu took a tiebreaker to down Sofia Barbulesca and Elizabeth Nova, 7-6 (5) at number two. The match on court three was all square at 3 in a tiebreaker when halted.
 
In singles, the teams split the six first sets. Zhao was done first, sweeping Abby Lee, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3. Veronica Kliuch was next off, downing Campodonica, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2. The match was clinched when Hu rallied to down Barbulesca, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, at the top spot.  
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Cindy Hu pulled out two victories in comeback style, first in a tiebreaker in doubles and then for the clinching match in singles play after dropping the opening set.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV will open Mountain West play on Sunday by welcoming Air Force starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. All matches at Fertitta Tennis Complex are free of charge.
