SALT LAKE CITY (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team looked good at the top of the singles and doubles lineups but ultimately lost 4-1 to No. 52 Utah inside the Eccles Tennis Center on Wednesday.
 
The Rebels fell to 5-6 overall while the Utes of the Big 12 Conference stayed undefeated at home and improved to 12-5 overall.
 
UNLV's Ilia Snitari made his long-awaited debut and nearly earned two ranked wins. In doubles play, he and partner Illia Maksymchuk were leading 6-5 over 74th-ranked Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo when the match was halted after the Utes were victorious on the other two courts to secure the team point.
 
In singles, Snitari led No. 97 Berk Bugarki when the Ute retired because of injury, giving the visitors their lone point on the day. Two other Rebels – Vitaliy Horovoy at five and Joel Gibson at six – won sets but their matches were also halted when the hosts earned the clinching fourth point.

UP NEXT: UNLV will close out its non-conference slate on Monday by hosting Wichita State starting with doubles play at 11 am. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
