LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team earned a 3-2 victory over Utah Tech in a midweek non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium.

The Rebels (18-14) and Trailblazers (12-20) were tied after the second inning, but UNLV scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead and never looked back.
Bri Williams and
Charelle Aki led the Scarlet & Gray at the plate, each having two hits. Williams was 2-for-3 on the day, while Aki went 2-for-4 including a solo home run that tied the game.
Maddie Scott was also one of the top hitters against Utah Tech going 1-for-1 and had two walks.
Amelia Weber collected her eighth win of the season and now has an 8-6 overall record for UNLV.
HOW IT WENT DOWN: Utah Tech scored in the top of the first inning, after taking advantage of a wild pitch. In the bottom of the second inning,
Charelle Aki sent a rocket of a home run over the center field wall to tie the game 1-all. The Trailblazers went ahead 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning scoring on a ground ball to the right side. The Rebels then answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring two runs on three hits to take the lead 3-2. The next two innings, both squads were held off the scoreboard. In the top of the final frame, UNLV retired Utah Tech in order including two ground balls and a strikeout to secure the victory.

OTHER NOTES:
- Ariana Martinez and Karmyna Becerra each went 1-for-3 on the day. Martinez and Becerra also each had an RBI.
- Gwyn Burnett, Aki, and Scott all scored a run for the Rebels.
- Sofia Morales drew two walks against the Trailblazers.
- Weber threw 4.0 innings while only allowing one earned run and struck out two.
- Yanina Sherwood also saw the circle today against Utah Tech and only allowed two hits and collected one strikeout.
- Martinez's program record in RBI is now up to 186 and counting.
- Martinez, Williams and Scott are each on four-game hitting streaks.
- Williams has now reached base in five straight games.
- Martinez and Scott have now reached base in four consecutive games.
