FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's swimming and diving sophomore Alex Vazquez and senior Daniel Nicusan wrapped up their opening day of competition at the NCAA Championships Thursday at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.
- Sophomore Alex Vazquez placed 25th in the 1-meter dive with a score of 322.40, marking the highest finish ever by a Rebel diver at the NCAA Championships. Additionally, it was the best Scarlet & Gray diving finish at the meet since Don Wilhelm placed 29th in the 1-meter in 1986 under the former 11-dive format.
- In the first of his three scheduled events this week, senior Daniel Nicusan took 51st overall in the 200 IM prelims with a time of 1:45.15.
UP NEXT: The national championships continue Friday for Nicusan in the 100 breast. Prelims start at 10 a.m. PT, followed by potential finals at 6 p.m. PT.
