SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team opened its Mountain West schedule Friday afternoon and fell 4-2 to San Diego State at the Aztec Tennis Center.
 
The Rebels dropped to 6-7 while the Aztecs improved to 7-9 (1-1)
 
The match essentially came down to doubles play as SDSU took a 1-0 lead after securing wins on the bottom two courts.
 
In singles, the Rebels earned a 2-1 lead by posting straight-set wins on two courts. Ilia Snitari continued to impress with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Philipp Bosse at the top of the lineup while Vitaliy Horovoy downed Liam Spiers, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Thomas Navarro was leading in the third set against his opponent at No. 3 but was halted when the hosts got to four overall points.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Newcomer Ilia Snitari remained undefeated since debuting earlier this month.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV hosts Boise State on Friday at 4 p.m. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
