LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team fell 5-0 in game one of the three-game final Mountain West series against New Mexico on Thursday evening at Eller Media Stadium.

The Rebels (22-25, 5-15 MW) were led at the plate by
Ariana Martinez,
Sofia Morales and
Diamond Sefe. Martinez reached base on every at-bat going 1-for-1 with two walks and was hit by a pitch. Morales was 2-for-3 against the Lobos (21-28-1, 6-14 MW). Sefe was also 1-for-1 at the plate.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: The first two innings were scoreless by both sides, until the Lobos got on the board 2-0 in the top of the third inning. In the top of the fourth inning, New Mexico added two more runs on a two-run homer to go ahead 4-0. The fifth inning both sides were held off the scoreboard and in the top of the sixth inning tallied another run and made it 5-0. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rebels were able to get
Diamond Sefe and
Ariana Martinez on base with one out. However, UNLV was retired for the next two straight outs.

OTHER NOTES:
- Karmyna Becerra had the squad's lone double of the game.
- Maddie Scott and Gwyn Burnett each drew a walk against the Lobos.
- Martinez is now on a five-game hitting streak and has reached base in nine straight games.
- Becerra is on a four-game hitting streak and has reached base in five consecutive games.
