LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – For the second consecutive season, UNLV tied a school record by being picked to finish second in the Mountain West in the preseason media poll, which was released Wednesday morning to kick off the league's annual Old Trapper Football Media Days at Circa Resort in downtown.
The Rebels, who received four first-place votes and 415 points overall, only trailed Boise State's 464 total points. Those same two teams played in the last two Mountain West Championship games. The only other time UNLV was picked to finish as high as second was last year and before the 2001 season after John Robinson's Rebels downed Arkansas in the 2000 Las Vegas Bowl.
Heading into 2025, San Jose State was picked third (359), Colorado State fourth (326), Fresno State fifth (301), Air Force sixth (280), Hawai'i seventh (213), San Diego State eighth (202), Utah State ninth (165), Wyoming 10th (150), New Mexico 11th (84) and UNR 12th (83).
Under the direction of first-year head coach
Dan Mullen, the Rebels will kick off their 58th season of football August 23 by hosting Idaho State in the earliest game in program history.
