LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's swimming and diving team dominated in-state rival UNR, 145-98 Friday at Jim Reitz Pool. With the win, the Rebels secured at least a tie of the three points in the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.
Overall, the Rebels won 10 of the 12 events and had 20 combined top-3 finishes across the individual and relay races.
THE RUNDOWN:
- Earning a victory in the 200 medley relay, the squad of junior
Dominika Trentkiewicz, sophomore
Brinkley Hallgren, junior Fernanda Mendez Guerra and senior
Gina Miller combined for a time of 1:42.07.
- Dominating the 1000 free, junior
Ava Olson won the event with a time of 10:12.72, reaching the wall 14.31 seconds faster than the second-place finisher from UNR.
- Dashing to another Rebel victory, Mendez Guerra won the 50 free with a time of 23.25.
- Sophomore
Grace Wharton added two Scarlet & Gray wins on the day, posting a 2:03.31 in the 200 IM and a 2:05.50 in the 200 back..
- Senior
Erika Carlson also won two events in the 100 free (50.54) and 200 free (1:47.96).
- In a 1-2-3 Rebel sweep of the 500 free, Olson won the event with a time of 4:59.48. Miller (5:02.07) and junior
Marta Klimek (5:05.36) placed second and third, respectively.
- In the 200 fly, sophomore
Lauren Palacios earned a first-place finish with a time of 2:00.43.
- In the 3-meter dive, sophomore
Allyse Abbott placed second with an overall score of 277.13.
- Closing the meet strong, the 200 free relay 'A' team of Mendez Guerra, senior
Averi Webb, Carlson and Miller posted a winning time of 1:32.66.
