Lady Rebels Defeat In-State Rival UNR 62-57

UNLV was led by Shelbee Brown’s 15 points and Meadow Roland’s double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds

RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Lady Rebels defeated in-state rival UNR 62-57 on Saturday afternoon at Lawlor Events Center. This game is part of the Silver State Series presented by America First.
 
The Scarlet & Gray (14-6, 9-1) had three players score in double-figures and were led by Shelbee Brown's 15 points while having a team-high three steals. Meadow Roland picked up her seventh double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, which five were huge offensive boards. Aaliyah Alexander had 10 points and was tied for the team-lead in assists with two.
 
The Wolf Pack (7-13, 3-7) were led by Izzy Sullivan and Skylar Durley. Sullivan had a team-high 13 points and Durley had 10 points, respectively. Durley and Kendra Hicks each brought down six rebounds for UNR.
 
TURNING POINT: The Lady Rebels headed into the fourth quarter down one, 47-48, but that didn't stop them as they went on an 8-2 scoring run to take the lead back at 55-50 early in the final quarter. UNLV and UNR then exchanged baskets, before the Wolf Pack cut the deficit to five, 62-57, with less than two minutes to play. The Scarlet & Gray picked up the defensive rebound to hold onto the victory.
 
STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV and UNR were tied six times and exchanged the lead 10 times throughout 40 minutes of play.
 
OTHER NOTES:
  • UNLV out-rebounded UNR 39-32.
  • The Lady Rebels painted the town red and won the paint battle 32-26.
  • Jasmyn Lott tied her career-high in blocks with two on the day.
  • Aaliyah Alexander and Mariah Elohim each blocked one shot against the Wolf Pack.
  • UNLV held UNR to just nine points in the fourth quarter.
  • Under head coach Lindy La Rocque, the Lady Rebels are 10-2 against the Wolf Pack.
  • UNR had six steals and were led in steals by Britain Backus.
