LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team defeated Air Force 67-39 on Saturday afternoon at the Thomas & Mack Center to improve its Mountain West record to 2-0. It also marked the Runnin' Rebels' third straight win and fourth in their last five games.

UNLV (7-6, 2-0) had four players score in double figures, led by Tyrin Jones' 14 points. Howie Fleming Jr. had his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Falcons (3-11, 0-3) were led by Lucas Hobin and Caleb Walker with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

SEPARATION: The Runnin' Rebels led 6-0 after the first three minutes of the game and held an 8-6 lead with 12:19 left in the first half. UNLV used a 10-0 run over a two-minute span to create some separation, leading by 12 halfway through the first half. The Runnin' Rebels led by as many as 16 points over the first 20 minutes and took a 35-20 lead into the break. UNLV started the second half with a 10-0 spurt to take a 25-point advantage and never looked back.

STAT OF THE GAME: With the Runnin' Rebels holding Air Force to just 39 points, it marked the first time they have held a Division I opponent to under 40 since 2010 in a 70-39 win vs. Colorado State.

DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: UNLV held Air Force to just 25.8% shooting in the second half (8 of 31), including 15.4% on 3-pointers (2 of 13). The Falcons finished the game at a 27.8% from the floor (15 of 54), which was a UNLV opponent season low, and 15.8% on 3-pointers (3 of 19).

QUOTABLE: "That was a good win by the Runnin' Rebels. I thought we really defended at a high level, and our guys executed the game plan today that we had set forth for them. It wasn't an easy week for us with guys being in and out with the flu bug, but we found a way to really execute. I don't care who you play; you hold a team to under 40 points, that's not easy to do. That means you were good defensively, and we were." - UNLV head coach Josh Pastner
