Lady Rebels Secure 64-51 Win Over Colorado State

UNLV was led by Meadow Roland’s double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Lady Rebels secured a 64-51 against Colorado State on Saturday afternoon at The Pavilion. The Lady Rebels (15-7, 10-2) and Rams (17-6, 8-4) will meet again on Feb. 25 in Fort Collins. UNLV extended its win streak against CSU to 10 straight.
 
The Scarlet & Gray had four players score in double-digits and were led by Meadow Roland's double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Roland also had two blocks and dished two assists. Shelbee Brown, Jasmyn Lott and Sydni Summers each had 12 points on the day. Shelbee Brown picked up her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
 
The Rams were led by Lexus Bargesser's 26 points and five rebounds. Kloe Froebe and Hannah Ronsiek also had five boards on the day.
 
TURNING POINT: The Rams started to climb back in the third quarter, cutting the Lady Rebels' lead to only two after an eight-point scoring run, 40-38. To start the fourth quarter, CSU tied the game on two free throws 40-all. The Lady Rebels then went on a 17-2 run halfway through to get the lead back to double-figures at 61-45 and never looked back.
 
STAT OF THE GAME: The Lady Rebels shot 90.0 (9 of 10) from the field in just the fourth quarter, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the three and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
 
OTHER NOTES:
  • Roland's double-double was her eighth of the season. She leads the Mountain West in double-doubles.
  • Shelbee Brown also had two blocked shots and dished two assists.
  • Summers' 12 points, tied a season-high. She shot 4-for-8 from the field and 4-for-7 from long range. She was one three away from tying her career-high of five made.
  • The Lady Rebels dished 13 assists and Aaliyah Alexander had a team-high of five.
  • UNLV out-rebounded CSU 40-28.
  • The Lady Rebels' bench out-scored the Rams' bench 19-8.
  • UNLV and CSU were tied twice and exchanged the lead only three times.
  • CSU won the paint 22-20.
