LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team has yet to allow a point through two matches after downing Utah Tech, 7-0, on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved to 2-0 while the Trailblazers fell to 1-5.
 
The hosts won two doubles matches to take the opening point. Kaho Oyama and Sofiia Sokolvak blanked Cameron Hendrix and Nicole Kells, 6-0, on court three before Hudson Hawkins and Nikol Mircheva downed Maya Inouye and Nutsa Tsintsadze, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot to earn the lead.
 
In singles play, Veronika Kliuch steamed past Zurita Berdecio, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1; Mircheva downed Ana Gutierrez Sampere, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2; Hawkins swept Inouye, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 3; Oyama defeated Hendrix, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5: and Adi Bitton downed Kells, 6-4, 6-1. The final match was decided in a super-tiebreaker as Eszter Kis-Czako outlasted Tsintsadze, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) on court four.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Mircheva improved to 7-4 in singles this season with a quick, straight-set win after making quick work in doubles play.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV closes out its opening weekend by facing Youngstown State on Sunday starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all matches at Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
