Rebels Grab Three Medals on Day Two of MW Championships

HOUSTON (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's swimming and diving team earned three medals on Thursday's second day of the Mountain West Championships at CRWC Natatorium.

Senior Erika Carlson broke the 200 free program record twice on the day en route to earning a silver medal in the event. During prelims, she swam a 1:45.71 and later shattered that mark in the finals with a time of 1:45.08.

In her second silver medal of the meet, sophomore Grace Wharton posted the second-fastest time in school history in the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.19.

Adding another Rebel podium finish, junior Fernanda Mendez Guerra earned a bronze medal in the 100 fly with the third-fastest time in school history (52.60).

THE RUNDOWN:
- Adding a top-10 finish in the 100 fly, senior Cameron Mykkanen placed 10th overall and second in the B final with a time of 53.72.
- In the 3-meter dive prelims, junior Chelsey Dorosh led the Scarlet & Gray with a ninth-place score of 269.40, while sophomore Allyse Abbott earned a score of 268.95 that landed her in 11th place.
- Joining Wharton in the 400 IM, freshman Rachel Wigginton posted the fourth-fastest time in school history (4:14.28) to claim a fifth-place finish.
- In the 200 free, junior Ava Olson secured a ninth-place finish and won the B final with a time of 1:47.78.
- In the final event of the night, the Rebels' 200 free relay team of senior Averi Webb, Mendez Guerra, senior Gina Miller and Carlson grinded out a fifth-place finish (1:30.53).

UP NEXT: The championship meet picks back up Friday with prelims at 8:30 a.m. PT and finals at 4 p.m. PT.
