LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team fell 8-1 against Utah Valley on day two of the Rebel Classic at Eller Media Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Lyla Gonzalez led the UNLV (4-8) offense each going 3-for-2 against the Wolverines (8-5).
Brooke Pisciotta was 1-for-1 on the day.
Keyannah Chavez had the squads' lone RBI.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: Utah Valley jumped out front in the top of the first inning, 1-0, after taking advantage of an UNLV error. In the top of the second inning, the Wolverines scored two runs on a double and made it 3-0. Utah Valley added three runs on three hits in the top of the third inning to go ahead 6-0.
Lyla Gonzalez led off the bottom half of the third with a double to right field on a full count. With two outs,
Keyannah Chavez brought in Gonzalez from second to get the Rebels on the board 6-1. In the top of the fourth inning, the Wolverines added two runs on three hits and took advantage of another Rebels' error to go ahead 8-1. The next two and half innings were scoreless by both sides. In the bottom half of the seventh, the Rebels had runners on with no outs to get things going. The Rebels were then retired on the next batter and lined out into a double play that ended the game.

OTHER NOTES:
- Charelle Aki, Taryn Calderon and Chavez each had a hit against the Wolverines.
- Presley Barnes had the team's lone walk.
- Yanina Sherwood threw all seven innings for the Rebels.
- Calderon is now on a five-game hitting streak.
- Aki has gotten a hit in four straight games and has reached base in six straight games.
- Chavez extended her on-base streak to eight straight games.
- Cook has now reached base in six consecutive games.

UP NEXT: The Scarlet & Gray continues the Rebel Classic with two games on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Rebels will first play Idaho State at 3 p.m. and close out the evening against Merrimack at 6 p.m.
