LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team earned a 14-3 run-rule victory against Illinois-Chicago on Friday evening on the second day of the UNLV Leadoff Classic at Eller Media Stadium.

UNLV (1-1) had hot bats as they tallied 12 hits which included four home runs from four different Rebels.
Taryn Calderon,
Charelle Aki,
Presley Barnes and
Bri Williams all went yard.
Lauren Fettic made her UNLV debut in the circle going 4.0 innings and striking out four batters faced. Fettic collected her first win of the season.
Amelia Weber also saw the mound for UNLV collecting two strikeouts in her 1.0 inning outing. The Scarlet & Gray had 12 RBI and three walks on the night.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: The Flames went ahead first in the top of the first inning 2-0, but the Rebels answered back in the bottom of the second inning tying the game 2-all thanks to a two-run home run by
Taryn Calderon. In the top of the third inning, UIC had two runners on with one out, but after
Presley Barnes caught the Flames stealing, Fettic sat the last out down on a strikeout. In the bottom of the third,
Natalie Turner led things off with a single. With one out,
Keyannah Chavez roped an RBI double to give UNLV a 3-2 lead. The bats kept rolling as Aki and Barnes went back-to-back on home runs to give UNLV a 6-2 lead after the third inning. The Flames tallied a run in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single to cut the deficit in half, 6-3. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Rebels bats were still hot as they collected eight more runs on five hits including a three-run homer by
Bri Williams. The Rebels retired the Flames in order in the top of the fifth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

OTHER NOTES:
- Keyannah Chavez had a night at the plate going 3-for-3 with three RBI. She had the squad's lone double.
- Barnes was 2-for-3 including two RBI and scored two runs.
- Turner went 2-for-4 on the night with two runs scored.
- Calderon was 1-for-1 on the night with two RBI, a walk and crossed the plate twice.
- Williams went 2-for-2 against the Flames with three RBI and crossed the plate twice for the Rebels.
- Calderon, Turner and Weber each had a stolen base against UIC.Â
UP NEXT: The Rebels continue the UNLV Leadoff Classic on Saturday, Feb. 7 with two games. UNLV will first play CBU at 3 p.m. and close out the night against UIC at 6 p.m.
