LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team were unable to come back in both games on day two of the Leadoff Classic at Eller Media Stadium on Saturday. The Rebels fell against California Baptist 4-1. UNLV was unable to climb back and dropped 6-2 against UIC.

GAME 1: UNLV 1, California Baptist 4

The first inning was scoreless by both sides, until California Baptist took an early 1-0 lead after a double and a bunt. The Lancers took advantage of two errors in the top of the fourth inning to tally two more runs to their lead, 3-0. In the bottom of the fourth,
Bri Williams got this going with a walk. After
Lyla Gonzalez put down a sacrifice bunt, the Rebels had a runner in scoring position. CBU threw a wild pitch, which the Rebels then advanced to third.
Rachel Cook hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score the run and make it 3-1. CBU scored one more run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single. The Rebels were then retired in order in the bottom half of the seventh.

GAME 2: UNLV 2, UIC 6

UIC jumped out front in the top of the first inning after a ball hit to the left side, 1-0. The Flames tallied another run in the top of the second inning on a solo home run, 2-0. The Rebels cut the deficit in half thanks to a solo home run by
Diamond Sefe, 2-1. The next two innings were scoreless on both sides, until UIC grabbed three runs in the top of the fifth inning, 5-1. With two outs,
Natalie Turner singled to left to give UNLV a base runner.
Charelle Aki stepped to the plate and smacked an RBI double down the left field line to make it, 5-2. In the top of the sixth, the Flames added a run on a sacrifice fly to right and made it 6-2. In the bottom of the seventh inning, UNLV tried to get the bats going again, but were retired in order.

OTHER NOTES:
- Aki was 2-for-5 through two games, which included a double, an RBI and a walk.
- Diamond Sefe was 2-for-2 against UIC which included a solo home run.
- Camryn Johnson, Rachel Cook and Sophie Stockam made their UNLV debuts on day two of the Leadoff Classic.
- Johnson had a double against the Flames.
- Cook had an RBI sac fly against CBU and a single against UIC.

UP NEXT: UNLV will close out the Leadoff Classic on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 12 p.m. against Purdue.
