Pair Of Former Rebels Join NFL Staffs

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Two former UNLV football players were recently hired by NFL teams to continue their coaching careers.

Former Rebel running back and linebacker C.J. Cox was named Defensive Quality Control Coach for the Kansas City Chiefs after a long career on the collegiate level as part of staffs at Montana, Kent State, UAB and most recently Coastal Carolina.

Following a three-year playing career at UNLV, which ended early due to injury, Cox became a student assistant here for the 2012 season, and was then a graduate assistant for three years before assuming the role as Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting in 2016. He earned his bachelor's degree from UNLV in 2012 and his master's in 2015.

Former UNLV offensive lineman Mario Jeberaeel has been named Offensive Run Game Coordinator for his hometown Las Vegas Raiders. Jeberaeel will enter his sixth season coaching in the NFL and joins the Raiders after two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and three years with the Atlanta Falcons. He jumped to the pros after a college coaching career that included stops at Abilene Christian, Kansas, Arkansas-Monticello and Nichols State.

A product of Las Vegas' Western High School, Jeberaeel earned his bachelor's degree from UNLV after lining up for the Rebels up front from 2004-08.
