LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team was unable to put together a rally and fell 7-0 against Loyola Marymount in the Red & Black Classic finale on Sunday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium. The Rebels (12-13) and Lions (18-7) were scoreless until the sixth inning. UNLV closed out the Red & Black Classic 3-2 with wins over LMU, NDSU and Utah tech.

Keyannah Chavez led UNLV at the plate, going 2-for-3 including her first triple of the season. Sophomore
Presley Barnes was 1-for-2 on the day and had a walk.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: UNLV and LMU were scoreless through five innings. It wasn't until the top of the sixth inning, when LMU hit a two-run home run to take a 2-0 lead. In the top of the seventh inning the Lions tacked on five more runs on five hits to go ahead 7-0. In the bottom half of the seventh, UNLV was retired on three fly outs to the outfield.

OTHER NOTES:
- Natalie Turner had a solid weekend, batting a combined .615 (8-for-13) including two doubles, three walks, an RBI and scored four runs for UNLV.
- Keyannah Chavez continues to stay hot at the plate, as she batted a combined .563 (9-for-16) including a team-high four doubles, a triple, two walks, an RBI and crossed the plate three times for the Rebels.
- Lauren Fettic went 2-1 on the weekend in her three appearances. Fettic pitched one complete game against LMU on Saturday, March 7. She struck out a combined 11 batters, only allowing six runs and five walks. Fettic held her opponents to a .246 and had a 2.52 ERA.
- Yanina Sherwood also collected a win over the weekend, which came against North Dakota State on March 6.
- Bri Williams has now extended her on-base streak to 13 straight games.

UP NEXT: The Scarlet & Gray will open Mountain West play on the road visiting San Jose State for a three-game series beginning Friday, March 13 - Sunday, March 15. The Rebels and Spartans will play game one on Friday, March 13 at 6 p.m. PT.
