Rebels Earn Walk-Off Victory Against Colorado State

Natalie Turner hit a single in the bottom of the seventh to propel UNLV to victory

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team earned a 3-2 walk-off victory over Colorado State in game one of the three-game Mountain West series on Thursday evening at Eller Media Stadium.

The Rebels (19-17, 6-4) and Rams (17-18, 5-5) were tied 2-all after the fifth inning and UNLV took advantage of two Colorado State errors to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh with one out. Natalie Turner roped the first pitch she saw in the bottom half of the seventh to left and off the bounce, Bri Williams was able to score from first base. Turner led the Rebels' offense going 3-for-4 against the Rams including a double and scored a run. Diamond Sefe reached on every at-bat going 3-for-3 including a double and an RBI. Keyannah Chavez was 2-for-3 on the night with a double and scored a run. Lauren Fettic went the distance for her fourth complete game of the season and her ninth victory of the season.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: The Rebels scored first in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Charelle Aki. However, the Rams tied the game in the top of the second inning 1-all on an RBI single to center. In the bottom half of the third inning, Chavez hit a double down the right field line with one out. With two outs, Sefe traded places with Chavez to put UNLV back on top, 2-1. The fourth was scoreless by both squads until the top of the fifth when Colorado State tied the game 2-all on a single to left. Both teams were held off the board in the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh, with one out, Williams reached on a CSU throwing error. Turner then came to the plate and sent the first pitch she saw into left field.
