2018: Voted to serve as one of two defensive captains as a junior … Started 10 of his 12 games played at WLB as a junior … Finished seventh on the team with 46 total tackles and easily led squad with 13.5 TFL … His four sacks tied for second on the Rebels and he also forced one fumble … Twice had a season-high seven tackles in a game (at USC and vs. UNR) … Ranked fifth in the MW with 1.13 TFL per game … Racked up 7.5 TFL in the first four games alone, including a career-high three vs. the Trojans at the Memorial Coliseum … Named 2018 Preseason Fourth Team All-MW by Phil Steele’s and Athlon.
 
2017: Turned in a breakout sophomore season by ranking second on the team with 81 total tackles, including 3.0 TFL … Also forced two fumbles … Posted a career-high 10 takedowns in the win at Idaho … Credited with nine tackles vs. both BYU and UNR.
 
2016: Earned his first letter as a Rebel by appearing in all 12 games … Finished with nine total tackles, including a QB sack at San Diego State on Oct. 8.
 
2015: Redshirted season.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-year letterwinner at Pittsburg HS under Victor Galli … Voted the Cal-High North Coast Section Defensive Player of the Year … Named First Team All-Metro, First Team All-East Bay and Second Team All-Northern California by MaxPreps … Helped the Pirates to a 10-3 record as a senior … Recorded 57 tackles, including 17.5 sacks, in his final year … Also was a two-year letterwinner on the wrestling team.
 
PERSONAL: Gabriel Anthony McCoy was born in Antioch, CA … The son of Kevin and Maja McCoy … Has three sisters: Kiera, Geah and Kayla; and three brothers: Kevin Jr., Kaden and Kyron … Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in May 2019 and began pursuit of a master’s in higher education from UNLV.
