ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The second-ranked UNLV golf team is in third place after two rounds of play at the 20-team William H. Tucker Intercollegiate played at the par-72, 7,253-yard UNM Championship Golf Course Friday.
The Rebels shot an opening-round 291 and followed that up with a second-round 287 to sit in third place at 578, 12 shots behind team leader Brigham Young (283-283-566). Southern California (288-284-572) is second, while New Mexico (285-295-580) is in fourth. Oklahoma (289-293-582) and San Diego State (290-292-582) are both tied for fifth.
Individually, UNLV senior Jeremy Anderson (69-67-136) sits in the lead, two shots ahead of Colorado State's Nigel Spence (70-68-138). Scott Piercy (70-69-139) of San Diego State is in third.
Other Rebels competing are Michael Kirk (72-70-142/T6th), Adam Scott (74-75-149/T43rd), Brien Davis (76-75-151/T58th), Tyler Mays (playing as an individual 75-77-152/T71st) and Scott Lander (77-76-153/T81st).
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Saturday.
