Women's Soccer Wins First MWC Match

Oct. 8, 1999

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Anita Pedford's header with 2:41 left to play lifted UNLV to victory in its first-ever Mountain West Conference match Friday.

Pedford's goal broke a 2-2 tie and helped the Rebels improve to 6-4-1 on the season, a perfect 1-0-0 in MWC play.

The Rebels rallied from an early 1-0 deficit on Stephanie Sutter's goal at 31:45. Pedford put UNLV on top in the 62nd minute with her first goal of the match, but the Cowgirls quickly responded with a goal just two minutes later. UNLV led the match for less than five total minutes.

It is the second time in her career that Pedford has scored twice in a game. She and the Rebels will try to keep their perfect record intact Sunday when they play at Air Force.
