BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The fourth-ranked UNLV golf team shot an opening-round 283 and followed it up with a second-round 275 to sit in third place at the 12-team Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate played at the par-71, 6,958-yard Old Overton Golf Club Monday.
The Rebels (283-275-558) are one shot back of co-leaders Georgia (280-277-557) and Clemson (284-273-557). Houston (279-281-560) and Arizona State (277-285-562) round out the top five.
Individually, UNLV's Adam Scott (68-66-134) shares the lead with Oklahoma State's Charles Howell (68-66-134). The two are one shot ahead of Arizona State's Paul Casey (65-70-135), who is in third place.
Other Rebels competing are Michael Kirk (T4th/69-67-136), Calvin Kupeyan (T17th71-71-142), Jeremy Anderson (T31st/75-71-146) and Tyler Mays (T51st/76-76-152).
The tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes.
